The Woodlawn Public Works Department consists of six full-time and one to ten contractual workers.These individuals are responsible for the general care of all Village owned property, street, vehicles and facilities. The department staff includes the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Foreman, six full-time maintenance workers and other seasonal employees.
In addition to a regular forty hour per week schedule, the Public Works Department is called out as needed for needed intervention in weather related emergencies and weekend or after hour events.
The current Public Works Department provides a variety of year round and seasonal services aimed at the upkeep of buildings, grounds and streets in the Village. Those services include the following:
* Leaf pick-up and brush removal
* Snow and ice removal
* Basic facility maintenance
* Grass-cutting and brush removal
* Athletic field lining and grooming
* Set up and clean up for all Village sponsored events
* Street lining and marking
* Seasonal beautification
* Park maintenance
* Janitorial services
* Street construction oversight
* Assistance with code enforcement
* Assistance with street and road improvement planning
There are many repair and maintenance services that are currently contracted out to private vendors including:
* Roof repair and maintenance
* Plumbing
* Tree trimming and removal
* Sewer
* Garbage Collection
* Curbside and general recycling
* Sprinkler system maintenance and repair
* Road construction and repair
* Higher level electrical work
* Routine pot hole repair
* Winter snow removal
* Five (5) year street repair cycle
* Ongoing Village Beautification Project
The Department sponsors community-wide clean-ups at least twice per year. They provide assistance with the Millcreek clean-up events organized by the Recreation and Community Services Department.
